How to Use Elimination Mode on a Spin Wheel

A raffle is only fair if everyone gets the same chance — and often that means nobody should win twice. If you have ever spun a wheel, called a name, and heard the same name come up again two spins later, you already know why elimination mode exists.

What elimination mode does

Elimination mode is a single switch in the wheel settings. The label is plain: Elimination mode (auto-remove winner). Turn it on, and every spin does two things at once. It lands on a winner, and it takes that entry off the wheel. The slice is gone, so the next spin only chooses among the entries that are left.

That is the whole feature. There is no separate screen and nothing to configure beyond the toggle — but it changes what the wheel is good for.

With the mode off, every spin is independent. The wheel always starts from the full list, so the same name can come up twice in a row and that is not a bug. With it on, the list behaves more like a queue: it empties as you work through it, and by the final spin there is only one entry left to land on.

When to turn it on

• Prize draws where each person can win once. Every spin removes a name, so the pool shrinks until the prizes run out.
• Picking several people in order. First, second and third place, or a lineup of speakers, come out as clean spins instead of one result you have to remember.
• Rotating groups. In class or at a meeting, everyone gets a turn before anyone repeats.
• Any list where a repeat would be annoying rather than useful. If you want repeats, leave the mode off.

How to set it up

1. Paste your list into the wheel — one name, option or number per line. Each entry becomes a slice.
2. Open the settings and switch on elimination mode.
3. Spin once. The winner is announced and removed in the same moment.
4. Spin again. The wheel now only covers the remaining entries.
5. Check the history and stats panel if you lose count: it shows total spins and how many entries are left.

You can reset the wheel — or just turn the mode off — when you want the full list back.

Tips that keep the draw clean

• Announce the rule before the first spin. Say out loud that each name comes off after it wins, so nobody is surprised when the list gets shorter.
• Keep labels short. A name is enough; a whole sentence blurs on a projector.
• Save the wheel. If this is a weekly draw, save it once and reuse it instead of rebuilding the list. Saving needs a free account.
• Share the same wheel. When the draw happens somewhere else, send a share link so everyone spins the identical list.

A note on speed and sound

Elimination mode pairs well with the rest of the settings. Slow the spin to slow, normal or fast depending on how much suspense you want. If a spin is removing a name permanently, a slower turn makes the moment land better. Turn the click sound or the win sound on, or mute both.
