What to Eat Wheel: End the Dinner Debate

"What do you want for dinner?" "I don't know, you pick." That exchange can run for ten minutes and end up exactly where it started. The What to Eat preset loads a list of options into the wheel and hands the decision to one spin.

What it is and how to use it

What to Eat is a built-in preset. Selecting it fills the wheel with food options, and every entry becomes a slice. Spin, and the wheel lands on one of them at random. It is free, it runs in your browser, and basic spinning needs no account.

The preset list is a starting point you are expected to change. Replace the generic options with the restaurants, dishes, or takeaway places you actually order from, and the wheel becomes useful straight away. You can add, delete, and edit entries, then save the result to a free account so the whole list is one click away next time.

Since the entries are plain text, a cuisine, a specific dish, or even a price range works just as well as a restaurant name. Whatever goes in becomes a slice, so the wheel fits your version of the problem.

When it is worth spinning

  • Deciding between the handful of places your group always argues over.
  • Picking a cuisine when everyone insists "anything is fine".
  • Choosing lunch on a working day that has already used up your decisions.
  • Breaking a tie between two options you like equally.

Getting a better result

Keep the list short. Five to eight real options spin more cleanly than twenty vague ones, and a short list forces an honest answer. Add a slice for "cook at home" if that is genuinely on the table. Give the wheel a title like "Friday Dinner" and save it, so the group does not rebuild the list every week.

You can also keep two saved wheels — one for a quick weekday lunch and one for a weekend dinner — and open whichever fits the moment.

Set the speed, choose a turn or win sound or mute it, pick a color theme, and use elimination mode if you are choosing more than one option in a row.

Stop debating dinner. open the wheel, load What to Eat, and swap in the places you actually order from.
